9! He's 9 today!

My firstborn is 9 years old today.
One more year and he'll have a two-digit age.
4 years then he's a teenager.
8 years then he'll be in college.
Time freeze please!!!

(Though he said he never wanted to leave home, even when he's all grown up.
Don't know if he'll change his mind, but until then, I'll cherish every minute with him.)

Fear and Trust

Fear grips every individual in small or big way. Fear of spiders, fear of death, fear of failure, or maybe fear of losing a loved one. We all have fears. But we not be afraid if we trust God (Psalms 56:11).

Two weeks ago, hubby was away for five days for an orientation in Ottawa for his new job. We praise the Lord for His great provision through this new job. But we were all heavy hearted to say our farewells because this was the first time we will not be complete as a family for more than a night or two. I can sense my firstborn, Jakob, and his uneasyness knowing daddy won't be around for almost a week. I have to fight my tears as I saw Jakob quickly wipe his tears away when he said his goodbyes to his daddy that Sunday afternoon he left for Ottawa. I cried myself to sleep for two days, and tried to accomplished my To Do list for the reamining three days just to keep myself occupied. When I asked them to make a card for Raymond on the morning of his return, I was surprised to find Psalm 56:3 in Jakob`s card. When we asked that night why he chose that verse, he explained that he was afraid - afraid that something might happen to his daddy, his plane might crash and we might not see him again. All those days Raymond was away, Jakob was trusting God that He will take care of his daddy.

And last week, Beata started having nightmares. She dreamt of something that she was too afraid to even describe it to us. What she wanted to do is to say Psalm 56:3, and sing `Precious Jewels` everytime she felt the fear. And I can totally see her peace every time she does these two things. She was able to overcome that fear the following day.

What childlike faith!

We can always learn something from our children.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Psalm 56:3

FabFind Friday: Polly Pockets

Last month for Beata's birthday, we bought her an additional gift of her own choice from Toys R Us.
She chose a pack of one Polly Pocket doll with about 10 or more outfits.
There was no price on the shelf.  I was expecting between $12-$15.
I was so wrong.
$19.99 +tax!!!
I told myself, "That's the last Polly pocket for the year, Miss!"

Then came Saturday after that splurge, you know...yard sale day.
We saw a box of more than ten Polly Pocket sets with tons of dolls and accessories for...

are you ready for it?...

$10.00

Ka-ching!  We scored a deal!

Last Polly Pocket for the year?
I guess I spoke too soon.

Smart Cookie!

"Are there beds in Ottawa?"
When she realized that her daddy is not going to sleep with us at home for five days but in Ottawa.

"Do we speak Spanish when we eat Spanish bread?"
When given a Filipino type of bread called Spanish bread.

"What does that say?"
I said, "AMERICAN STANDARD"
"Oh!  So we have to stand when we flush the toilet?"
When she asked about the writing on the flush handle.

"We're doing "difference" in school like Kuya Jakob!"
At first, I thought they are doing subtraction in school already.  So driving home, my mind is going overtime thinking of ways to teach her subtraction at home.  When we got home, she excitedly pulled out a piece of paper from her backpack and handed it to me.  It says, they are going to make a poster (just like kuya Jakob; she's right about that!) with the theme..."MAKING A DIFFERENCE!"

You'll have to agree...
She's a smart cookie!

WEDNESDAY reWIND: To Infinity And Beyond...

Blah, blah,blah...Buzz Lightyear.
The blah...
I blah...
My blah...
Buzz Lightyear.

You might be wondering what those lines were.
That's how Jakob used to talked when he was about 3 or 4 years old.
You would not understand anything but the words Buzz Lightyear.
(Just ask his Sunday School teachers that time and I'm sure they'll tell the same story)
He loves Toy Story 1 and 2, Disney Store and anything that has to do with Buzz Lightyear.

With Toy Story 3 coming next year, here's a little tribute to our favourite Space Ranger...

Sunday Selah: He Who Began A Good Work In You

He who began a good work in you
He who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it
He'll be faithful to complete it
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you

If the struggle you're facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair
Or the process is long
And you're losing your song in the night
You can be sure
That the Lord has His hand on you
Safe and secure
He will never abandon you
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:6
