Friday Fun

Yahoo!  It's Friday!  I used to be so worried letting the kids play by themselves in our frontyard.  I always wanted to be with them, watching out for them, telling them what to do...just ruining the fun (I think).  So for the past few days when the weather is lovely or when there's a lot of snow from the day before, I would let my children play...by themselves.  (Well, door opened and window curtains pulled so I can still watch them.  It's amazing how they can all get along (even for 5 minutes) and play happily together.  Who needs mommy?  (Well, they still do after playing---they need my help as they take off their wet snowsuits and boots, and for a yummy snack after!)

And then for more exercise at the newly renovated and improved McDonalds at Bayly and Monarch...
I must say it is impressive at how they changed the layout of this McDonald's branch --- playplace, fireplace, flat screen tvs, nice seating areas.  And what's more impressive is these kids' energy --- they are still going!  What did I feed them???

Pink!

We went back to the hospital yesterday to have another check at Beata's arm. And it was a looonng wait. Well, we were warned. The sign says "THIS IS A FRACTURE CLINIC. BE PREPARED TO WAIT!" Good thing Raymond took another day off so I don't have to bring 2 kids by myself and wait in the hospital. The surgeon said he does not see anything wrong in the x-ray. The femur(?)/arm bone looks a bit bent but he says it looks normal to him. But in case the x-ray missed something, she should be in a cast for 2 more weeks just to be safe. They changed her cast to a fiberglass one, much lighter and not too thick this time. Beata was so not looking forward to having another cast, she just wanted to get rid of the old one. So when it was time to get a new cast and choose a colour, she was not so happy. Knowing her, I chose pink. When we got home, she was much better and she said she likes the pink colour (not the cast though!). Well, we just hope two weeks flies fast!
note: Dr. Mommy was right! She had ear infection. She's on antibiotics right now and the peak of the pain in the ear is gone so hopefully it all goes better from here...well, we still have the cast to deal with :(

PIC OF THE WEEK: Mustache

One of the many times Raymond puts mustache on his face (and his kid) with the cake frosting.  Jethro is his victim this time.  (I did not put your picture up, hon.  I know you'll be embarrased.  Well, maybe your picture will make it to next year's Wednesday re-Wind, huh?)

More sushi, please!

Our afternoon (and our tummy) are filled with lots and lots of sushi (and other Japanese foods). We celebrated Jethro's birthday with our family at an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant called Sushi Mountain. The food and service are great! We spent the rest of the afternoon at our house where we played some party games, ate cake and Jethro opened his gifts. It might be one of the coldest days but we sure had fun and we appreciate our relatives driving all the way to Ajax to celebrate with us. More sushi, please!
note: Beata is still sick and she still has a fever. She is now complaining about her ear. Dr. Mommy's diagnosis: ear infection. Well, we will get a second opinion from the doctor in the walk-in clinic ;P

Tylenol days

Can we ever have enough of Tylenol?  Since Tuesday, we have finished at least 2 bottles of Tylenol already with my 3 kiddos' cough, colds and fever.  We tried the chewable tablet ones too but they like taking syrup form better.
We usually get this bad cough/cold in January, and with all the previous VERY cold days here in Canada, it's no wonder we are dealing with these right now.  Thankfully Jakob did not miss a day in school, and Jethro is feeling better.
But...our little princess is sick.  Cough, cold and fever all through the night.  Not to mention the lovely(?) cast on her right arm.  Apparently, she and her little brother were holding hands while seating on the couch when Jethro suddenly jumped off the couch, still holding Beata's hand, and OUCH!  He accidentally pulled it and it's the start of Beata's pain and our long wait at the emerg yesterday.  It happened Wednesday night.  We went to a walk-in clinic thinking it was just another popped elbow just like what she had before.  But when we woke up Thursday, she is still complaining about it so I decided to take her to the emerg right after dropping off Jakob to school.  X-ray was done (me and Beata in the x-ray room, Jethro outside peeking though the hole, crying while still holding on to mommy's purse) and it showed normal but doctors want to make sure so she was put in a cast until Monday when we go back to see the doctor again.  She felt much better after the cast.  And since Raymond took the afternoon off from work, we decided to go on with the Chuck E. Cheese's plan.  The boys had fun but Beata just sat most of the time (though she was really trying and forcing herself to have fun coz she was looking forward to this too!).  Poor Beata.  She was so frustrated asking me what else can she do with just one hand.  I know she'll get used to it but with a toddler, 2 arms and 2 hands help when they are playing (especially with those small dresses that come with the Polly Pocket dolls).
Beata trying to cover her face (she is not too impressed with her cast).
Jethro still looking skinny from being sick for 2 days.
Jethro and Jakob enjoyed the games...and food.

(not so) Happy Birthday, 3-year-old!

Everything is set!  Gifts are ready, streamers are up, Raymond's off work, the cake is baking (thanks Beata for helping mommy decorate the cake!)...but our birthday boy is not his 100%.  He has a bad cough, runny nose and a fever.  Our plans for the day has to be postponed (specially the much awaited traditional birthday visist to Chuck E. Cheese's).
Jet opened his gifts (and he was not into the play-with-it-right-away mode so the toy trucks and cars are just laying in bed with him), and snoozed most of the day (that's why we let him stay in his pjs for the whole day).  I guess we can call this day Jethro's PJ Birthday!

It was snowing last Wednesday and the kids insisted that we shovel the driveway, so we did and these kids outlasted me and just kept on working with their shovels.

How did Mary gave birth to Jesus?

So it started, the how-did-the-baby-got-out-of-the-tummy question.  Beata is learning more about the birth of Jesus in her Sunday classes, and while we were driving home from dropping off Jakob from school, she bursted out this question with a phrase, "there was no door, how did baby Jesus got out?".  I was speechless but then I quipped, only God can do miracles.  She's smart, but I'm smarter :)

We welcome 2009...

...with a Wii!  Ha!  We wanted it for the longest time but kept on telling ourselves that we don't need it (or want it!  Denial! LOL).  Finally, we gave in.  I was at Wal-Mart doing some merchandise returns, then I asked the lady at the customet service if she thinks the electronics section has a Wii in stock already.  She said she's not sure but...there is one Wii returned today then she handed me the Wii.  I cannot believe it!  We are getting a Wii.  I called hubby at home telling him I have a Wii in my hand and he said buy it now!  So, being a submissive wife that I am (right, hon?) I bought it.  I used a store credit to pay for more than half of the price so it's like buying it for half the price.  And yes, the search for the games and accessories begin, but it's all part of the fun! :0
notice the 40-inch LCD tv too?  well, we said goodbye to our big tube old tv and replaced it with a small 13-inch tv (see bye-bye-big-tube post ), let's jsut say we rewarded ourselves for being good, content and not complaining :D
